Call for Papers - SI on TAMEAS

Special Issue on Trends, Analytics, and Methodologies in Education and Applied Sciences

Aim and Scope

Data Science (DS) is the community's term for the extraction of knowledge from data through the use of a variety of methods, processes, and systems. As long as there is enough data to extract knowledge from, DS is a discipline with broad applicability. Education is one of those domains where massive amounts of data are generated on a daily basis in various types of educational institutions. Manually extracting knowledge from those data sets is a difficult and time-consuming task. That is why computational approaches are required. Using EDS will undoubtedly be of great interest and utility to all actors involved in the educational process, such as students, instructors, university administrators, and even higher level state administrators.

EDS can be used to improve student performance, prevent student dropout, design University strategic plans and curricula, and design educational laws in state organizations, to name a few.

Note: This Special issue is sponsored by the external funding agencies for the year 2023 and thus the authors need not to pay any charges at any stage of the publication. The journal is indexed in many indexing databases and going to be included in Web of Science and Scopus in due time.

Special Issue Information

We encourage researchers and experts worldwide to contribute by submitting high-quality original research papers and review papers. In summary, this special issue seeks original contributions on the application of EDS techniques as long as they represent a real trend in the field and justify the use of the proposed methods from a pedagogical standpoint, as well as analyse the implications of the results obtained with respect to the learning process itself. Papers with a strong foundation in learning theory and/or rigorous educational research design will be given preference. We will consider tertiary and further education studies of any kind (e-learning, blended and traditional education). To be considered, work must include an exhaustive validation, with position papers occasionally admitted if they are exceptionally well written and include extraordinarily new ideas.

Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited to) the following:

•    Educational data mining
•    Learning analytics
•    Educational data visualization
•    Educational data preprocessing
•    Multimodal educational data analysis
•    Educational data fusion/integration
•    Temporal data analysis in education
•    Deep Learning applied to educational data
•    Self-regulated learning data analysis
•    Educational process mining
•    Educational models generalization
•    Ontologies for educational data science
•    Models transferability and generalizability
•    Models interpretability
•    Big Data on educational data
•    Educational open/linked data systems
•    Gamification-related data analysis

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special issue on “Trends, Analytics, and Methodologies in Education and Applied Sciences” on or before 30th August 2023.  All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE JOURNAL GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at https://jase.a2zjournals.com/index.php/ase/about/submissions.
